BlackSheepTwoOneFour One of the reasons I believe is some folks advertise and don’t follow up in delivering the item(s). How would you feel you paid for a kit in the classified ad, and the advertiser simply steals your money and not give you what you wanted. See where the reasoning is? I’ve seen/heard of fellow hobbyists being burned by advertisers.

It's certainly a leap of faith. It would be a perfect world where modellers didnt rip off fellow modellers. In Australia we have Gumtree , which I imagine is our equivalent of CraigsList ? I just sent a perfect stranger who lives 1500 miles away $100 for 5 model kits. He got his money, I got my kits. Personally, I find the forums way more quiet than 10 years ago. Anything that brings in renewed interest to the forums seems worth it IMHO.

I'm not so sure.... I think the advertising space argument is a bit lame. The classified ads I see in FSM are mostly from buyers wanting to buy entire collections, as opposed to people trying to sell off a few kits. Look, if FSM just want to do "because we say so", thats fine with me, but I think it has little to do with wanting people to advertise in the classifieds section, which doesnt seem well used (as far as selling kits) anyway.
I have to go along with the majority here .
Rob Gronovius I've been on too many sites where issues arise when folks have bad trades. Sometimes it is a lack of communication, other times it is one person trying to pull something on another. The no trades rule here has worked well for the 15 years I've been a member. And I do a lot of trading, buying and selling on other sites if I need to do so.

I enjoy the ones where there's a new member, and the first post is "I have a new, unopened Aurora F4D and I was curious if anyone knows what it's worth?".
Easy way to do what you want, and not clog up the boards.
I just sold a Cobra resin set to another member, we conducted the whole thing via email. Easy enough.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
goldhammer I don't blame them, more to try and moderate. Just easier without it. Not to mention that most all here are builders rather than collectors just looking to buy and sell.

I think thats as big a reason as upsetting the advertisers. They don't want to get drawn into disputes.
There is no problem with sending stuff to other members, quite often some one will mention they are looking for a certain item and some one will send it. I have both sent and recieved things from members. But trading, buying and selling bring there own set of problems, and FSM is not e-bay which is paid to be there when these disputes arise.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

ugamodels I missed one on ebay last week. Personally, I think the publisher is being short sighted. The home building forum I used to participate in had plenty of tool swaps, people arranging work, etc l

Short sighted? No. FSM is a major publisher. They have their rules when it comes to selling/trading online on these forums. Please respect their policy.
Rob Gronovius I'm not sure that Tamiya did an M2 halftrack. I know they did an M3A2, M16 GMC and M41 mortar carrier.

Correct. Tamiya did an M16 and M21, and an M3A2, - which was a prototype that never saw production or service.
I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.
GMorrison New Avatar, Rob. Wish I could see that fine detail. If you want to buy, sell or trade there's plenty of opportunity to communicate backchannel.

Try eBay.....
Fine Scale Modeler does not allow any of this on their site. Since they also earn money from classified ads in their magazine, they feel this will adversely effect those revenues. There are plenty of places to buy, sell or trade online and Facebook.
Has anyone tried having a topic for members to buy, trade or sell models, or is that against the rules? I got a couple of models for Christmas that I would trade. And I am looking for a 1/35 Tamiya M2 US halftrack, which has long been out of production.
