Hi Conicus. Welcome!

Yes, it’s good advice to read up on a articular model. Quality can’t really be segregated by manufacturer beyond some very basic things. Tamiya makes both great and lousy models. Trumpeter can make two similar subjects at the same time; one good, one bad.

Id be excited about that Fujimi kit. Building something like that would be a real achievement.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Fujimi has been around for a very long time and has some great looking models out, even the older ones from 20+ years old. Tetra makes a super detailed set for the Kaga which looks super impressive.

While in a model shop in Japan, I saw this kit and was impressed.  I've never built a Fujimi model though, so I'd like some advice.  What is the repution of this company vs say, Tamiya or Trumpeter?  Also, are there after market or upgrade kits available?

Thanks for any advice.
