I was lucky on tht one. They only made about 250 and I just happen to have enough money at the right time. The resin detail is very good and there are P.E. parts included, especially for teh supports for the flight deck
Don ;
One of my fellow officers in the Rail Museum showed me a photo on his phone of one F-4-F that supposedly fell of the Wolverine's deck and was recovered some years ago and was restored . I wonder if that's the plane " G " speaks of . T.B.
Sure thing, Don!
ikar01 I have the model of the Wolverine. It's a waterline kit of course and the detail is good and there are a number of photo etcn parts with it. Form what I understand it is a limited run kit...

The Blue Ridge Models kit? I had stopped paying attention to it, after I marked it in my wish list at Freetime Hobbies. So it was finally released? That's good.

the Baron knox ...I thought that FSM did an article on a guy who scratch-built one of these carrier, but I could be wrong. You are correct. I think it appeared in the April 2005 issue. Here is a link to the build article at ModelWarships.com: http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/cv/IX-64/72-bw/wolverine.html ....

Thanks! I downloaded that page to my Wolverine folder. Need to perfect my CNC experience before I tackle the project, however.

I had been intending to build it but with the way my eyes are going at the moment, I'm not sure if I can. I have a hard enough time with airraft models.
It's a shame there is not a 1/350th scale kit of it.
Thanks, Don for the link. I haven't watched it yet, but it may include the F4F-3, painted to look like O'Hare's airplane and displayed in the airport.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Ha! When I went out to search for that build article, I found another thread we had, two years ago, about a different documentary, I believe:

My replies then were the same, heh heh!
Blue Ridge Models has a 1/700 resin kit in the works, too:

I recall reading an update about that kit, that it was delayed because the master was damaged before the mold could be made. I've got it on my wish list but haven't really paid attention to the project's status in a while.
Thank for posting this Don. Definitely getting the download.

Watched an interesting program on my local public TV station last night. It was called Heros On Deck, and was about training navy carrier pilots on Lake Michigan during WW2. It featured the two paddle wheel coal burning carriers that I have long loved, the Wolverine and the Sable. Also the recovery of four of the many aircraft that ended up at the bottom of Lake Michigan through training accidents. Turns out the movie was produced by an organization of enthusiasts, and DVDs are available.
