Recomend me a white paint
Posted by castelnuovo on Thursday, May 17, 2018 12:15 AM

So far I have used Tamiya's paints. But I have trouble painting large surfaces with their white. I use hand brushes only and they always leave big brushmarks when using white, even after 3-4 coates. I can never get a nice smooth even finish. Any recomendations for other manufacturer's white paint?

Many thanks

White is always a bear to hand brush, no matter what brand. But I would suggest to give Humbrol a try. Of all the brands out there, for hand brushing, I get best results from them. And one trick that I have heard of is to do a base coat with flat white, and add any subsequent top coats with gloss, satin, or semi gloss to get a more vivid white finish.

Spray can. That is the only way to get white.

1. Tamiya Primer followed by gloss coat.

2. Testors.

3. *** at the hardware store sold as "refrigerator white".

I use Tamiya White Primer in the rattlecan as my base coat.

White is hard to airbrush so I usually opt to the rattle can approach instead.
