Flood of ads from vendors
Posted by Don Stauffer on Monday, May 28, 2018 9:25 AM

There are model supply vendors that I use a lot that send me email.  Lately that mail has become a flood.  From monthly, some of these firms are now sending me two or three emails a week!  I am now either unsubscribing, or if that doesn't work, adding them to my junk mail filter.  Of course, then I get none.  Don't these vendors realize that there is such a thing as too much?  Do I have to stop doing business with them so often in order for them to get the frequent messages?

I couldn't agree more. MicroMark is becoming a pest as is Squardon with their relentless sale announcements but if this sort of thing bothers you then I strongly suggest you not buy a Chevy. We got one a year ago and between GM, OnStar, Chevy and the dealer I get at least one per week. When I schuduled some service I got four seperate emails, a text and a voicemail as reminders plus when I got the car back home I had several additional emails announcing the car was ready and I could pick it up.

How true, especially Squadron. Same can be said of Blick art supply, Barnes & Noble and numerous others - I just unsubscribe to any company that sends more than one a week. Another car to avoid if you dislike email is Subaru - they love to stay in touch!

Has anyone noticed the large amount of items that are "Out of stock" at Squadron lately? I wonder if they are having a problem.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Oh, man. Bought my wife a used Equinox from a Jeep dealer. I'm constantly getting texts that my car is ready to pick up. What?!?! I'm in the stupid car, why do you do this? I call and they're clueless. Drives me nuts.

The spam has actually been pretty minimal from them. An occasional letter trying to sell me some add-on or other.

Now Micro-Mark. Yikes. MegaHobby doesn't seem to slam me like they did until I just marked theirs as spam. Gmail deals with it for me, and when I want to see if there's a coupon or something, I just look in my spam folder. :)

Yes I have noticed it. They had a wonderful labor day sale but I had trouble finding anything that I wanted that was actually in stock. Finally I decided to splurge and order a really nice kit only to get an email the next day telling me it was out of stock and they would not get anymore.

Grrr

Meh.

I just delete emails I don't want.

Block them or unsubscribe

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Seems that these things run in streaks. I'd think after a couple decades I might have noticed a pattern, but no.
