Very nice model! Our old friend HvH crewed on her.

Has any one heard from HvH?  Whatever happened to him?  I was always in awe of his builds!

It isn't too terribly big, the wingspan is about the width of a twin bed. but you will have to attach the wings at a larger space (kitchen table maybe) It also needs a lot of paint.

I had the opportunity to fly on FIFI a few years ago at the VAC Airshow. What an amazing experience! I would hope that both B-29s make an appearance at Sun n Fun sometime like they did at AirVenture a while back. Maybe in formation with Reilly's XP-82. That would be just awesome. I'd like to try that kit but I'm a little intimidated by the size of the finished model. I'd have to put an addition on my house to have a place to put it. Great build.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

GMorrison

I can't see the nose. Did you get the art?

not quite, I still have to get a bottle of decal film. After that though, I already have the design.

That's a good story. I went to the Collings display in 2006 on Father's Day with my late dad. We had fun.

If I remember, FIFI was used in making "The Right Stuff".

I can't see the nose. Did you get the art?

Both flyable B-29s were at Reading this year, FIFI flew and Doc was on display for tours. Early Sunday, before show open, they pulled Doc out and flew him just to stretch I guess, but very cool. Two B-17s were there as well, Yankee Lady flew and Memphis Belle was on display for tours.

That is a big bird! My dad and i, well, mostly Pop, built that in the 80's dressed up as Thumper. He still has it.

one more thing i forgot to put in: It needed a lot of surgery for wheels up. I filled the tailskid and nose grear with modeling putty and had to add support beams of sprue and skewer so that the other bay doors didnt fall in.

0hello all,

I don't show my builds very often (I think this is the first time on this site), but I really want to show you Fifi. I sped production after seeing her fly in person on the 1-2 at a WW2 airshow in Reading, Pennsylvania (here is a video, i didn't take it but my video is really bad so, here it is:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk-pyq919iY(make sure to watch in 1080p). So now she is finished (with the exeption of custom noseart, that will come later) and flying. I started this build early february and hung her up yesterday. so viola!

my beautiful FiFi flying free

Some notes: The letter and number is wrong but i didnt want to use too much of my ever limited decal paper so I just chose the letter and number I liked. Also for someone who wants to build her, dont waste your time on the interior. in the aft section you cannot see ANYTHING. another note for a future builder: the glass bubbles on the sides are a pain in the but, I eventually had to cut the m out and install them on the outside(shaved of about 1/8 of an inch from bottom). Also do not be afraid of the letter on the tail, just position it where you want it (do not use decal set) and liberally ably decal solvent( I use micro mark) after a few coats if there is any clear not attached, cut it away, and then after a few more coats you should hav it snugged down. one more thing before closing: this took one tube of testors glue, one bottle of testors superglue, 2 cans of greyspray primer, 2 cans on chrome, 2 bottles of interior green, a lot of sandpaper, and a lot of love. and  last but not least: do not be afraid of her! she is just a big model that needs some time and love and will be outstanding!
