Thank for posting castel. He was lucky to survive the war, 75% of those brave men didn't.

The DKM was somewhat respectable in it's time, and history can record that some of it's senior staff were at least resistant to Nazism, Hardegen among them.

It's impossible to not share the guilt of those you serve. Hardegen seems to have devoted the rest of his life to public service and not have been recorded as unwavering in his belief in the evil cause. Absent that, I would ignore his death as one less bad actor.

He would have been an interesting person to meet.
