several year's ago ( 2008 ? ) my wife bought me the Acadamy 1/350 Tirpitz.

Box was not shrink wraped, but everything inside was. Exept for the two hull half's, they were in their own cardboard cradle.

B.T.W.: Acadamy kit's are good in my book !

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

The kit contents of my 1/72 & 1/48 Academy products are in sealed plastic. However, no boxes are shrink wrapped.

Hi Buman I have about 70 academy kits in the stash and none of them came shrink wrapped. The parts are in clear bags though!

I just recieved a Revell motorbike kit that shipped from a 3rd party Amazon supplier. No shrink wrap.

First time I think I can remember ever getting a non-shrinkwrapped kit, even going back my heydays, which were the 60's.

This really has nothing to do with your question, sorry........

99.9% of local hobby model stores purchase kit collections and inspect the kits and Redbox/shrink wrap them for resale. Like new. Also they tell you to get w/ the model manufacturer if any missing parts.Ebay is good at that.A local good hobby shop is rare .The internet is the new king.

In 1975 or 76, I worked at a Kay-Bee Toy and Hobby. We had a shrink wrap set up. When a new kit came in. I'd opene it, check it out and rewrap it. Nothing new.

Not all kits come shrink wrapped.  I have several that arrived without the wrap.

I don't know, but anyone can put shrink wrap on a kit.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Hello all ! This may seem a strange question but can anyone tell me if all the ACADEMY model kits come shrink wrapped / plastic film, from the factory ?

Thank you very much !

Oliver
