Ideas on how best to scratch build this CSAR hoist for my CH-47D

Hi Don, I disagree. Scratchbuilding is something done in all subjects of modelling, and whilst this part is for a helicopter, it’s not just copter builders who may have an idea on the best approach, or nor are they the only ones who may benefit from the discussion.

If I was after a super glossy, mirror finish for a display team fighter jet, would I not be wise to go to a car building forum to see how the achieve their mirror like finishes?

I would think you would get more responses from the Helicopter forum.

I was thinking along similar lines too.  it’s just been pointed out to me on another forum that the Blackhawk has a very close matching hoist fitted and is included in the 1/35 Academy kit which I also have. It still requires an extra cover be fitted, and the mounting is completely different, bit it’s an excellent start.
