Hobbytown-Asheville,Pretty Good LHS

I visited a Hobbytown about 20 min from home.Mostly R/C stuff,but a decent collection of kits.Armor=Trumpeter,Dragon,Takom,and Tamiya.Planes=Revell and Hasegawa.Lots of car kits,no figs.

No big deal though because I am not an impulse buyer anyway. But they had Tamiya,Vallejo, and Modelmaster paint, glues, supplies, books and Mags including FSM.

Glad to have a place nearby for a quick resupply of a spilled bottle of paint or glue,or a kit that might interest me.

Tojo - Great, a good LHS is one of the better things to locate in a new area. I hope you're finding where you now live to be an enjoyable place, with lots to see and do in your retirement. I looked it up on Google Earth map, that's a real baseball community with ball fields all over.

They carry decent selection of building tools and paints.

BTW - I got an 1/48 Airfix P-40B from Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon.  Good price at $11.  There was one more on the shelf.

Yep, I always visit that one whenever I'm in Asheville for work. Unfortunately for them and me, it's been quite a few months since I've been to Asheville! I alsways try to buy something when I'm there.

Another hobby shop you need to visit is in Hendersonville, NC, which is just a few miles south of Asheville on I-26 (Exit 49B) - The Hobby House at 1211 Asheville Highway 28791. They deal in a little bit of everything - plastic; RC aircraft, cars, and ships; railroading (all scales); woodworking; etc. Good place to visit. Unfortunately, they ain't open on weekends. Dang it!

The Wood Room is my favorite.  Also try the Heidelburg House if you like German.  It's excellent.

The wife and I have eaten at the Heidelburg House a couple of years ago. She lived in Germany for three years when her ex was stationed in Mannheim back in the mid-80s, so she has a knack for picking out the really authentic German restaurants. She says that its one of the best she has eaten at in the US in terms of German culinary quality. Plus, it helps that the owner is German.........
