Make me stop...
Posted by fotofrank on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 7:39 AM

...I'm acquiring kits so much faster than I can ever build them! I've only been back in the hobby for less than two years. Geez, seventy-nine kits in various places around the house. In our little house, too many to store in just one place. Yikes!

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Hi;

Even though I am a Doctor ( not of Medicine )  It hasn't helped ! I have a stash that even if I could turn back the clock , never buy another kit , I still would be seventy five before I reached the end .

Kit buying is to a modeler , as Shoe or Dress or Jewelry buying is to women . It makes us feel good and so it becomes an unspoken addiction .

That's what my first wife told me . She was right !   T.B.-----Hey ! You live in Florida and you don't have any floaty thingies in that stash ! Shame on you, LOL.LOL.

Yeah, floaty things. Never had the desire. Since Florida is so flat, except for the occasional TV tower, flying seemed more interesting to me.

Welcome to the club! I've got enough to keep me busy for the next 250 to 300 years. Just hit the raffle at Penncon for 4 more last Saturday. When the man upstairs takes me to the great workbench in the sky, I'll have plenty to keep me busyWink.

I'll take that B-17F off your hands if you think you've got too many, lol.  I was purchasing to many a few months ago, the solution was to focus my little bit of money elsewhere.  Any little bit I get I've been buying parts for my car, as I'm in the process of restoring it.

I wish I had that much shelf space! Mine are mostly packed away in lots of carefully-catalogued boxes....

"Just say no"? Did that ever work? Anyway, Tojo, if you mean three 1/72 F-82 kits, one will become an XP-82 (maybe) or a P-82B with Merlins. I bought two Hasegawa 1/72 P-51D kits at Modelpalooza. If I'm good enough, I perform dual rhinoplasties on one of the F-82 kits adding the Merlin noses from the two Hasegawa kits. Wish me luck.

No. Absolutely not.

Why? Simply put, I’m guilty of doing the same damned thing. Incidentall with my collecting kits over the last year or so, my count was 79 kits as well when I last counted when signing back on here.

I feel for ya....

Warmest regards,

Roger

I am with TB on this one. Get some floaty things. While your are at it: Go get some cars, figures, motorcycles, and whatever else. I say, feed the addiction. It will go away, eventually. Hehe. Usually, once when you can't find a place to sit.

I'm afraid their is no cure it happens to all of us. Right now if I don't buy another kit I may have my stash built before I turn 50 in 20 years.

My 70+ stash was crying out to me "build me,build me". So last year I decided not to buy any more kits, after all, I bought the kits I have because they are really nice kits and I wanted to build them. So i re-built 3 from the shelf of doom and 1 from the stash which gave me much satisfaction.   BUT, to satisfy the buying urge I am now aquiring lotsa aftermarket stuff for the ones I do have plus some more wizzie tools...it never ends.

I did buy 2 kits at the latest IPMS show which crushed my stash build schedule. One was the 1/48 Visible B-17 with tons of AM that I started on,and this one is gonna take me a year ,considering all the additional scratch building I'm just compelled to do.  So much for my stash -building plans...sigh

I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.

I do think about boats and cars. I might like to do a vintage Cris Craft cabin cruiser, like the old mahogany boats. As for cars, somethng vintage like a Rolls or Cadillac or the Le Mans Bentley. Maybe an old Chevy Sedan Delivery
