Hello!
There will be nodefinite answer to this question. I think a modeller has to keep flexible and just mix painting and building in the "right" proportions - and right will be different for different modellers, depending on their paints, tools, eyesight, glue and so on. There's just no reason not to glue together parts that will be same colour anyway. Then again, parts like fire extinguishers are better painted first and just then glued on. Just stay flexible and think a few steps ahead, and you'll be all right! Good luck and have a nice day

Depends on the particular build. Some parts like the interior are better to paint first prior to sealing up the sides, etc. Once the exterior goes together the interior parts are pretty much out of reach.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
fox Hi Daniel, welcome to the Forums. Glad to have you aboard. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Whichever is easier for you is the best way. Old farts like me have to paint first because the eyesight is failing and the hands shake badly.

Welcome Daniel. Post the question in "Armor".

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
There is no right or wrong way to do it. Whichever is easier for you is the best way. Old farts like me have to paint first because the eyesight is failing and the hands shake badly. The only problem you run into with painting first is that then you have to scrape the paint from the parts where they join or the glue will not stick well. Other than that it's up to you and how comfortable you feel.
Good luck and post pics so we can see how you're doing.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
I am working on my first "more advanced model", the Trumpeter M1129 Stryker Mortar Carrier.
This model has an exposed interior and I cannot decide how to approach painting. Should I paint the parts outside and then assemble or the other way around? Any advice would be greatly received.
At the moment I am leaning towards painting all the parts outside off the model and then assembling.
Thanks
Daniel
