CA debonder
Posted by Don Stauffer on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 8:38 AM

I screwed up and neglected to drill a few holes in the lower wing halves of a B-47 kit.  Fortunately, I thought, there was a bit of a gap that allowed me to get a bit of debonder down in between the halves.  I started then pulling the halves apart on down towards the root.  Unfortunately, the pieces then got very soft and weak, and I broke both pieces!  I had never had a problem before with debonder weakening the plastic.  I guess I just used too much, in this case.  Before it was only to remove a small part. I sure learned a lesson.

I did get the holes drilled, and got the broken off pieces glued back in place, but I will have to fill and sand the cracks where they broke.

Don--I am making a mental note on that one. Sorry to hear this. There are so many ways that the gremlins can strike at us.

I’m sorry to hear and read of your “mishap”.  I hope and wish there will be no more issues with this build.  Good luck sir!

Me too, I wouln't have expected debonder, even too much, to attack plastic.

Thanks for sharing the info.

Don;

 Sorry about that Mishap ! I have found , having been in the industry that sometimes the fornula is weakest at the near end of a run .

Sometimes the mix isn,t right on cue . It's molecular and you got bit . I don't use debonder at all .I use a freeze spray that Baker's use .Works for me . T.B.
