When I first hit this site every day, I hit the “recent discussions” tab, which shows all new posts, no matter what genre forum in which they are posted. But this one was posted while I was off on vacation, and not checking in much, so it fell back in there before I noticed it. I just stumbled upon this while searching for something else...

M1  -  Walker Bulldog- Korea

Do I have the correct era?  Where can I find information other than Tank Encylopedia or Scalemates?

You grabbed some of their older kits, not the best available of each subject.

While the M41 was developed during the Korean War, it did not see action there. It did see use in Vietnam with the ARVN, but had already been replaced by the M551 Sheridan light tank in US formations.

Yes, all of those tanks use the OD green paint scheme with or without white stars. What is OD green is a whole 'nother conversation. Some people try to match colorized wartime photos. Some people try to match museum display pieces that are often painted with whatever shade of paint they can get.

I go with whatever myself. For Vietnam era armor, I go with a darker semi gloss shade of OD. WW2 I use the greener stuff.

When you have tough questions, it is usually better to ask them in the specific genre  forum, in this case the Armor forum.  You are likely to get better answers there.

Merry Christmas — so my wife and I buy our own gift.  I only have the M1A2 US Tank, M40 and M109 Howitzer so I added Four Tamiya Tank kits.

Sherman M4A3E8 European Theater  WWII

M3 -  Lee MK WWII

M3  -  Stuart - Late Production WWII

M1  -  Walker Bulldog- Korea

So do all four have the same paint scheme —Olive Drab or Olive Green?

Do I have the correct era?  Where can I find information other than Tank Encylopedia or Scalemates?

Any tips appreciate

Sorry that I missed this one. There are actually more paint schemes for wartime US armor than plain Olive Drab (not Olive Green). In the ETO Black was a commonly used color for a secondary pattern in some units. Some even had multi color schemes. The M41is a different issue though as it mostly served in the peacetime army of the Cold War in US service and had the look of that era.

Anyways, this site is great for a good start of reference for USA WWII subjects

and this one for lots of Cold War era photos

Wish I could help. I’m not too knowledgeable when it comes to US armor. However, if you post this in the “Armor“ forum, I guarantee you will get some expert advice! I hope you have fun building them!
