Thank you all for the replys. The sandpaper method seems to work well.

Don Stauffer

For trimming a decal at an edge I sometimes drag a piece of 600 or 1000 grit sandpaper over the edge.  Done gently this will not take paint off the edge.  I drag at about 45 degrees to the surface.

Yeah, a nice, new Nr 11 blade.  I have some pairs of surgical scissors that I use for such jobs, too.  Take your time, work carefully, but you can do it.

Yeah, you can trim them on the sheet while dry of course. If you're worried they won't fit you can photocopy the sheet and then cut the decal shape you want out of the copy and then test fit it without ruining the actual decal sheet.

After it's in place you can cut it with either an X-Acto #11 or a sharp razor blade. If it's still wet make sure the blade is sharp or it will tear and drag instead of a clean cut.

I think GM is referring to trimming the decal with a brand new #11 xacto blade.  You have to make sure the decal (if already applied) is completely dried and well adhered to the surface.

Other option, depending on where the decal is, is to soak with solvaset, let it melt around the wheel hub and touch up with paint.  Post a pic.

Thanks,

John

I have applied the decals on the wheel cover of my WIP Spitfire. But when I put them on, it turned out they are too big by quite a margin. Is it possible to somehow trim them?

Now I am afraid to put the other decals on as they are quite big, conssisting of left and right/ upper and lower D-day black and white stripes that should fit perfectly on the wings and fuselage or they would look very bad.

Thanks
