I know I can also order direct from mission models, I was just curious what the was there.

As for Amazon, it's just that they have everything.   Personally, I'd rather support a local small business over Amazon.

I took a job in the RDU area of NC and will be moving there in the next 2 weeks or so.  I've heard about hangar 18 and the place down Fayetteville.  What can y'all tell me about hobby shops in the area? Specifically, where can I get mission models paint there?  Or will Amazon become my new best friend?

I realize that here in Los Angeles, I've been spoiled with the likes of Burbank house of hobbies and brookhurst.

Try Google....

You don’t need to buy Mission Paint through Amazon.

Scalehobbyist has them and so does Michigan Toy (www.michtoy.com)

I never can figure out why the obsession with Amazon to buy all your Hobby needs. I never order anything through Amazon. There are other sources much cheaper than Amazon, prime or not.

oooh tough one. You may feel a little left out in the area. I work down there every couple weeks. One of the guys in the plant is an avid modeler and we've been to 3 shops so far but one closed up recently.

Raleigh Hobby & R/C is more of a lwn mower store...don't ask. Anyway they have some nice RC stuff which does mean lots of plastistrut and evergreen and the like so that is good. Just a basic plastic model area with Model Master and Tamiya paints.

Hangar18 was a decent place. Citadel, Tamiya and Vallejo paints for sure there. Can't remember if they had Mission models or not? They seem to split time between plastic, RC, and Role Playing games. Small shop but the guys were definitely modelers and were open with advice.

Games Workshop was a cool place worth walking through but nothing other than Gndams and role playing miniatures along with paints for them. Biggest role playing shop I've ever been in - 4 or 5 private rooms and a another space about 100'x30' lined with tables and 3d dioramas for role playing.

I won't be back there till late january. Drop me a PM if you want to catch up sometime.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
