Stug III

The Stug III came in so many variations that you really need to decide which version you want to build before you can choose one. There are many to choose from, starting with major variants (Ausf.B to Ausf.G) and minor variations within each.

I like the Dragon Stug look up Dragon kit 6633

Nice choice for a late-ish Stug III Ausf.G. It has Zimmerit, the Saukopf mantlet and the remote MG.

Hands down,Dragon makes the best Stugs,however,there are a myriad of versions,you must decide on which one you want to build,then research the reviews on Google and decide.

Now that I think about it,who else besides Dragon and Tamiya,I know Bronco makes the DAK version,but who else,not sure.

I 2nd #6633,a nice build,even has a limited interior for the fighting compartment.

It depends. How much do you want to spend on a kit. Do you want highly engineered kit? Go with Dragon. Do you want simple but not too complicated build, go with Tamiya or other brands. I’ve mentioned this once before, check out scalemates.com. Do a simple search and you get this:

Of course,they are probably better modelers then we are,but we have built these kits too, and we have our opinions ,whats wrong with our opinions.Perhaps an opinion from a lesser skilled modeler like me can also be helpful.So use Scalemates,Google reviews,AND you can also ask us for our opinions anytime you need,because If I built the kit,I will tell you how I feel about it.Before I buy a kit,I want as much info as I can get.

I just like peoples help-  I review on You Tube, Genesis, Andy’s Hobby.  I sometime do too much research and just confuse myself.  I want the Stug that Mike Rinlaid show on his you tube video about using oils.  

Scalemates isn’t all that hard to navigate.....

I’m learning—reviews are at the bottom. Just have hard time telling the different version like the Stug Ausf G, B, C. Etc. I know I want the small barrel but have hard time with timeline. Prefer to get a newer version.  Esample bought that Panzer V.  I think you told me not to buy it, well someone did and they were right.  I am just using it to practice painting but it went together like crap— I didn’t use half the piece,.

So don’t want to get burned. 

Scalemates is great for telling you what’s out there. But I take most reviews with a grain of salt. Reviews are highly subjective, based off of the reviewers experiences, skills and prejudices, and some folks have a tenedency to incorporate AM products into a review. That is not really an honest review of what’s in the box at that point. And I really do not care for video reviews. I can read a lot quicker than the tedious pace of video reviews.

As far as the versions of the Stug. III go, A thru E had the short 75mm gun, while the F & G had the long 75mm gun. The H, AKA Stuh. 42 had a 105mm howitzer.
