Revell In North America
Posted by hurricane40 on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 4:46 PM

Happy New Year to all.

Can any forum members shed any light on the following?  When do we expect to see Revell product back in North America and will Michaels be stocking?  Second part intriuges me.  In Canada it appears that Micheals is washing their hands of our hobby.  Shelf space has been reduced to about 1/3 of what it was a year ago.  Love those fifty per cent off coupons.  Any feedback would be welcomed.

I don't know when their products will start arriving again but it's going to happen. Here's a link to their new releases which shows they're up and running: http://www.themodellingnews.com/2019/01/revells-new-releases-named-for-2019.html

I've never been in a Michaels and can't answer that part of your question.

50% off at Michael's ?! We get 40% off. I never liked Michael's due to the lack of model kits selections. Hobby Lobby has a better selection than Michael's. Not that's saying much either.

If they are imported this is revell Germany, not revell USA. That is gone forever. The new revell will be an import like anything else. I would't necessarily expect to see wide spread distribution though.

It is not Revell of Germany anymore.  It is Revell, period.  The RevellUSA website is still up, but it is meaningless.

On the list, basically wiederauflage means recirculation from the German translator I used.  My german is a bit rusty.   In other words, repop.

Thanks all for info.  Yeah I agree with the very limited selection Michaels would stock but I managed to pick up both my Badger Patriot 105 airbrush and my Testor's compressor using the old 50% off coupon.  Even my wife could not fault me on those purchases.  I remember some 20 years back when Michaels first arrived in Canada one could purchase Hobbycraft and other manufacturers off the shelf.

i've been to two Michaels stores in the past six weeks, one in Northern California where I live and one in Central Florida near my Dad's place, and the selection in both is now nonexistent. Hobby Lobby appears to be the only large scale Revell stockist in brick & mortar in my experience, at least, and as stated their selection isn't all that great. They seem to favor car models, which is fine, but are very lacking in planes and armor.

What to do? Buy online. There are several good internet stores that I use that have lots of Revell product, including new releases as they are issued.

Happy New Year!

As long as it’s Revell, does it really matter anymore? Revell is coming out with some new kits as well as repops.
