Looking for next nice tank or Howitzer

Well if you don’t want a 1000 part kit, don’t get Dragon. If you want simple easy, get Tamiya. Otherwise go to www.scalemates.com. It’s really not all that hard to navigate through.

If you want a howitzer,check out the Tamiya M 40,it is a liitle more complex because of the open fighting compartment,but it is Tamiya easy and a cool looking kit.

I love you Blacksheep.  you must have stock in stalemates.  Yes it easy to navigate as you told me last time but I am looking for personal experience. Some reviews I recieved here were spot on like the Panzer V. Was a crappy model. Conversely the M109 was so much fun.  Scalemates cannot tell me everything about a model.

Unfortunately it’s to late I have a few Dragons. I have a ton of Tamiya‘s.  Looking for something nice in between those two 

I built the CHALLENGER. nice build, easy 2 color camo, side skirts in case the rubber band track breaks. took a surprising 3rd at a local contest.

The A2 is not accurate ( I was in A2s). I built the M42 DUSTER so same hull as M41. very old kit with molded on tools but turned out nice. The PZ-IIIL would be a fast build but a nice one to practice new techniques on weathering or washes. Te Takom WHIPPET looks like a fast build IF yoy look at what is not going to be seen and don't spend a lot of time on that part. The tarcks look easy too for indy tarcks. i plan todo one this year in Russian Civil War markings, whuch i am teaching thi year.

How about a warwheel instead of track? a USMC LAV or a ww2 PUMA. Hobbyboss makes some nice PLA ZSL-92 6x6s.

Maybe check out a Tamiya halftrack or AAgun they make some nice ones at reasonable price.

 

true. you can usually get the 20mm and 20mm(4) for under $10 at swap meets. I built the original 88 that came out in the later 70s early 80s i think. nice kit. it took a third too.

not sure where you live but the 251 half track is usually at HobbyLobby and you can download a 40% off coupon. i have 4 in my stash.

Any of the Tamiya T-55s are great kits.

The Tamiya Jagdpanther and Pz IV J are really nice builds. Decent part count and details. I would recommend getting PE  screens for the Jagdpanther and perhaps a barrel as well. Can't go wrong with the newer Tamiya kits: Late 80s to current. Just avoid their vintage early 70s kits.

You might want to check out Academy’s M12 Gun Motor Carriage or M7 Howitzer Motor Carriage. Or if you want a quick simple small build, Tamiya M8 HMC .
