DanR1967 On a side note, I was able to get multiple issues of FSM for free or as little as 50 cents each since these DVDs came out. Several individuals in my area have unloaded their paper copies and I was able to snag them. I've also come across a huge amount of Tamiya Model Magazine as well!

I am not interested in getting the magazine for free, which will eventually kill it completely to no one's benefit. I pay for my copies and expect to be able to do whatever I want with it without violating the copyright of the publisher.
I am perfectly fine with loaning my copy or borrowing other magazine from friend to browse. My experience is that it will end up in new subscription.
Don't kill the magazine for being a free loader.

Problem solved.
Kalmbach put the DVD contents in "hidden" folders. Fortunately, it is easy to unhide them in MY COMPUTER under Windows. Open MY COMPUTER. Click VIEW on the menu bar. Go to DRIVE TOOL. Check show "hidden file". There are 10 folders and one icon file that were hidden.
Create a folder on your hard drive for the 10 year collection. Copy 1 PDF file, 1 icon file and the 10 hidden folders to the location on your HD. You may have to copy the hidden folders one at a time. It will take some time to copy the over 4 GB of files. Once done, you can see and browse the 10 year collection on your HD without the DVD.
The copied folders are no longer hidden on your HD. The bonus is much easier nivegation to individual issue of the FSM. It is a shame that Kalmbach did not create a process to help their paying customers.
Edwin What a coincidence! I just got my copy of the 10 years dvd today. And no, there are no secret instructions that come with it. Think you need to load the dvd everytime. Probably Kalmbach’s way of ensuring copyright protection. Just my view

If Kalmbach did that on purpose, it is very short sighted. More and more laptop are going light weight by dumping the optical drive. I use USB connected external DVD drive to copy content to Hard Drive for use. It is the future.
In fact, as a long time subscriber, I think that I should be able to download the 10-year collection at a small charge. It is people like me who sustain the FSM magazine.
I finally decided that it is worth the $30 to get the 10-year collection DVD for convenience even I have 20+ year of printed issues on my bookshelf.
I thought that once copied to my computer hard drive, I can search for any subject with just a few clicks. To my big disappointment, the clickable links on the HD copy does not work. The package does not come with any instruction on how to install the collection on your HD so that you can use it without loading the DVD.
The 25 year collection does not seem to have this problem. I would have expect the newer 10-year collection to be an improvement, but it is a huge step backward.
Are there any hidden instruction anywhere on how to install it?
