Hi Ya'll ;
Now , there are many of you that say , What about Tanker - Builder ? He talks a good story .But ? Where's his photos ? Well , like a great deal of my stuff the photos that exist are in very poor shape ( They survived a Category 5 after all ). The rest are gone after many moves in the Military and life in general .
Nostalgia ia all I have left on much of this model stuff .I haven't been able to acquire a Lindberg Constellation Motor yacht or the Sport Fisherman now because of cost . Living on a fixed income is in some ways The Pits ! I have gone back to doing things the way I did as a kid . Mowing lawns ( When Health Permits) and washing neighbor's cars ( Ladies only ) Sometimes this just don't happen .
Now as a kid from a " Broken Home " ) We were seen as troublemakers by many adults .Me , wasn't going to go there .Daddy would've used the belt on me ! ( that's Child abuse Now ). So I kept his house clean and he treated me with the love a father of Sicilian Descent would do .I worked for the few bucks he ever gave me .Was he stingy Heck no ! Back then Mom got over 60% if his income after the divorce, because of my little Brothers and Sister .
I had to be six months with Him ,Six with Mom . I always seemed to get myself in the old situation , Right Place , Right time . Local Hobby shop was moving .They needed help to pack up .I got my first stash that way .Wow !
Grandma liked my school marks .Trip to " K " Mart for a model and some paint . Grandpa liked the way I swept the shop .Trip to the Local Hobby Shop for a model .he flew Control Line gas airplanes and I still have the one he got me ( I Think ! ).
Grandpa owned a fix-It shop .You know fans , toasters , vacuum cleaners etc . Oh that's right , now we just throw them away and go to Wal-Mart a buy another ! He taught me how to fix them and rewind motors .Child labor Laws ,What was that ?I worked with him in the summer and earned $ 5.00 a day ! That was the deal .I got $25.00 a week and I had to save fifteen of it , and show him my savings book .
I could go on , But you get the idea . never failed .I could find ways to earn models , supplies or both . I won't tell more because I would need twelve pages in the Mag to do that ! Bye ! T.B.
