Happy Saint Patricks Day to everyone
Posted by JohnnyK on Sunday, March 17, 2019 9:49 AM

Happy Saint Paddy's Day Happy Birthday I live in the Chicago area. Chicago has a huge population of Irish Americans. There are the south side Irish and the north side Irish. Of course, both side always argue over which one is more Irish. Chicago painted the Chicago River green yesterday, had a big St. Patricks Day parade, everyone dressed in green and partied all day and night.Propeller Corned beef, cabbage and beer for all!!! Eats

One more thing. The parades and parties extend over a period of two days. The City of Chicago has its parade on Saturday (parties follow). The north side Irish and the south side Irish have their parades on Sunday (more parites follow).

Back at you, Johnny.

There was an article on MSN the other day about the fellow who dyes the Chicago River each year. Family tradition, his dad started it. According to the article, the green lasts only a few hours. I didn't know that.

The plumber's union is in charge of dying the river green???? Supposedly, the dye, which is actually yellow in color until it hits the water, is eco frendly. And yes, it is a family secret reciept. It lasts only long enough for the parade to be completed. That picture above is not Photoshopped. That is the actual color of the river on St. Paddy's day.

My mother used to stress my Irish heritage, and St. Patrick's day was important to me.  Then, as a young adult, I realized no one in mom's family was Catholic.  I researched where great-grandfather was born- sure enough, I'm orange-irish.

Your ok Don, he is the national saint of Ireland not of Irish Catholics. Even the Orange order march in the Belfast parade.
