Searching - 1:72 scale Blohm & Voss Bv-38 Flying Wing by Black Sun Models Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark

Hi

I’m searching for the model kit that was of the flying wing from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The kit was made back in 2007 by Black Sun models, it was the 1:72 scale Blohm & Voss BV-38 flying wing.   I know this is a long shot but would love to own this kit. If anyone is selling one or can point me in the right direction for finding one that would be fantastic. I do live in Australia and have been checking here but with no luck.  So if anyone can help me out that would great.

I believe a company called Scalemates used to sell but dont anymore.

Scalemates is a website that catalogs all kits/search for. Its not a hobby store.

I'd suggest this. If you find it, it will be a collector's item that cost $ 125 eleven years ago when new.

It was sold by a small company called Starship Modeller. Their phone number is at the bottom of the instruction sheet, which you can download from Scalemates. If they are still open, you might call them.

If you were still interested in the subject, a decent model could be scratchbuilt using the drawings in the instructions. Buy an AR 234 or HO-229 kit on eBay (they are cheap) for the decals, cockpit, landing gear, guns etc.

Other articles suggest that there's a toy of the same, but I couldn't find one online.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Not sure if Black Sun is even still producing kits. It was probably a one man operation.

I think there was an article in FSM where somebody took a Disney gift shop toy and detailed it to appear like the one in the movie.  You might try that route if you can't find the model you are looking for.  Disney might have shut it down due to copyright and licensing issues.

Drew,

I have the Disney toy. It’s not too bad actually, the only thing I’d change are the props, which  are molded from a soft plastic. The toy looks easy enough to detail and repaint.  Where do you live?  I’d be willing to send it to you for the cost of postage.

Hi Mate

Wow that would be great.    Im live in Sydney Australia which im not sure what postage would be like to here.

Living in Australia makes it so hard to find things.

Cheers

I just did a search on Fleabay, and was surprised how little showed up.  I thought they sold everything!

That being said, one man’s dust collector is another man’s treasure.  I’ll pull out my dusty Disney toy and check it‘s condition tonight.

I exhumed the Disney toy from the Closet of Doom and looked it over.
