I went TDY to Fort Huachuca (about an hour south of Tuscon) back in 1996. One weekend when we went up to Tuscon, we decided to check it out on a whim. I think we had to pop onto DM AFB for something and it sparked our curiousity. At the time if you had a military ID you could drive through the boneyard with no problems (the SPs didn't seem to mind, we passed a few on patrol who didn't give us a second look). So we got to spend a couple of hours driving around and looking at all of the shrinkwrapped and unshrinkwrapped aircraft. Really interesting seeing the piles of B-52 fuselages and wings they had out, available for treaty verification satellite viewing if I remember right. There were also a lot of old '60s and '50s planes and helos as well. Really wished I'd had a camera that day, but such a cool experience.
