Are we allowed to post kits for sale on the forum? My stash has grown so large my wife is demanding I unload some of it.

In a word...no.

Since the forum is sponsored by a publisher who subsists on advertising revenues, it is perhaps understandable.

You are notallowed to sale through the forum, but you can always send a PM to members who are interested and make a sale like that.

That made me think of forum FAQs, which FSM really doesn't have, at least not very prominently displayed.  You have to scroll down to the Forum Rules & Etiquette subforum to find them, and this post covers your particular question:

http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/fsm_forum_rules_and_etiquette/f/47/t/116576.aspx

As was mentioned, Kalmbach wants you to buy an ad, so, no sales.  They'd probably clamp down on IM's too.

This kind of info needs to be more prominent, I think.  Pinned at the top of the forum index page, for example.  So many posts in the Welcome section about anything other than new members introducing themselves, because it's at the top of the page.

You are notallowed to sale through the forum, but you can always send a PM to members who are interested and make a sale like that.

The difficulty there is that a seller might not know who's interested, unless he builds up a list or network of members to message.  A bit of effort, and a seller would have to decide if it's worth it to him.

It's not clear if the admins would ban someone for violating the rule, either; that is, I haven't found it spelled out explicitly.  But I wouldn't be surprised if they would.
