For those of you who have been mourning the loss of the really great Hobby Town in Bel Air, MD, I suggest that you check out Competition Minis at 8803 Orchard Tree Lane in Towson. I moved out of Maryland about 3 years ago. The manager at the store said yesterday that they started stocking scale military modeling supplies about 4 years ago, so I was unaware of their existence. The name of the store doesn't really grab your attention, either. From their web site, you wouldn't think there's much to find in the store, but they actually have a pretty good selection in some areas. They have a fantastic supply of detailing items, including lots of AK Interactive supplies. They've done a pretty good job of stocking specialty paint brands, too. There's a basic selection of Tamiya acrylics, but they have a large range of Vallejo paints and the new Mission Models paints. There's also a large selection of fantasy subject paints, like Citadel. They even carry a good range of the Abteilung 502 oils. there's also a super selection of Alclad. The model selection is basic, but pretty thorough, lots of Tamiya 1:35 WW2 subjects, and some decent Academy kits, too. Kit prices are OK. There are also some really interesting magazines that focus on detailing. It appears to me that the owner got into scale modeling with fantasy modeling, like Warhammer. I'm not sure how familiar he is with scale armor modeling, but he's clearly trying and he's constantly expanding. If some of you who live in the area began frequenting the store and helping him know what you're interested in, I believe he'd try to stock for you. For the on-line shoppers, they offer free shipping in the continental US for orders over $49! And a flat rate of $6.95 for orders under $49. Here's the web site: http://www.competitionminis.com/

Same deal here. I actually live in Towson, and had never even heard the name until a few weeks ago when I ordered some AK weathering pencils on Amazon...and they came with a Towson return address! Needless to say I was pretty shocked.
Still haven't gotten over there yet, but judging from the photos on the website, it's quite a layout. Should get to visit soon, looking forward to it.
