Runway / Tarmac base
Posted by Michael B on Friday, September 13, 2019 12:43 PM

Hi all,

I am not sure where my question belongs, but I am looking for a base to represent an airfield / airport tarmac for my aircraft to set upon on my model shelves to represent their staging, tarmac areas.  I have checked on-line, Hobby Lobby and other such areas in my limited location (Paris, Texas) and have so far come up with ziltch.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Check with the online sites, they make several styles ( WWI, WWII, carrier, PSP, etc) in the major scales.  You can also make your own out of wet/dry sandpaper, posterboard and other materials and paint/weather to what you want.

Squadron shows  a couple of different types from True Detail, might take a look at TD's site.

You can also call up pics of any tarmac in the world on the computer and print them out yourself. I do that a lot and then reduce or increase them to the right size for the model then paste to a wood base. I do not attach most planes to the base so that I can switch them out.

Hope that this helps.
