Field Drab, FS 30118 is a good substitute for RAF Dark Earth. Not so sure about something for PRU Blue though.

Edit- Intermediate Blue FS 35164 is a good substitute for PRU Blue

Great news and reference.  Thanks stik!

So then I wonder if the original Testors facility is still turning out their paint ”under new management”. Or was production shifted to another Rustoleum facility. More idle curiosity on my part...

Judging from where jobs are available, Rust-Oleum has a plant in Rockford, Illinois, which is where Testors has always been made. I can't say with certainty, but I'm guessing it still is.

Guys,

We followed up on this rumor and here is the statement from Vincent Pierri, public relations for Rust Oleum, the parent company of Testors:

"Rust Oleum is no longer selling the Testors brand internationally, through distributors, but continues sales and distribution in the United States and Canada without interruption."

Yes

I'd point out this. A product like paint is no longer made at a single plant where multiple generations of folks in a town "worked at the plant".

Most of those places are now superfund sites, or what little remains of that program.

So what may be made in China for a product may be viable in the US under a trade tariff exemption but may not be available in other countries.

Now there is an interesting point. Did Rustoleum end manufacturing of paint here in the USA and move it to China? Pure speculation on that by me, but...

According to my research, Rust-Oleum makes paint of one kind or another in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa, in addition to plants in Durham County, England, and in a couple of other European countries. It does not appear that it is making paint or other coatings in China unless it is for the Chinese market.

Isn't selling to Canada a international sale?  Just curious.

Yes, but still in North America. And with whatever trade agreements are currently in effect between us. International, but not overseas.

Good news that we will still be able to get them here in Canada although I lament that they've deleted a number of colours that are essential to many people's builds, RAF Dark Earth and RAF PRU Blue to name but two.

Designed to sow alarm and discord in the modeling community?

Defeatist rumors spread by Fifth Column members from a rival paint company.

OK, I see that GM did the same thing I did-look it up.  So far, that's 2 responses that refute or tend to refute the rumor.

I agree with the opinions expressed about Facebook as a source of news, but so far. no one has yet confirmed this rumor either way.  Has anyone seen anything that can be  considered official, released by Rust-Oleum, and can be cited (eg, with a link) that states that they are getting rid of the Testor brand?

Hopefully just fake news!I primarily use Tamiya paint but consider some Model Master paints essential.

Facebook isn't fake news. It not news, period.

I checked the testors website- no sign of such.

I'll post the same question I posted in reply over at HyperScale, where you noted that you saw it on Facebook.  Was that on Rust-Oleum's own FB page, or on some other FB page?  I checked Rust-Oleum's website at https://www.rustoleum.com/  and https://news.rustoleum.com/, and there's no mention of it there.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
