Model stash donated to VA home.
Posted by patrick206 on Sunday, October 27, 2019 7:41 PM

First delivery made, fellow member Goldhammer and myself donated some modeling items for the Vet's in residence to have for some enjoyment. I gave about 20 kits from my stash that I would never have time to build, Goldhammer bought and gifted lots of supplies, paints, cements, Exacto knives, etc.

Goldhammer drove all the way to Northeastern Oregon to deliver, a long trip by the way. Now we're working on giving kits and supplies to the VA home in Lebanon Oregon, the model club in the area is involved and donates time to meet regularly at the home to help Vet's with learning and to assist as needed for building models.

I'm long retired and am looking forward to assisting the effort regularly, as a vet myself it's rewarding to do anything I can for these loyal and truly deserving folks. I'll have a chance to see the hobby area, to know if there is a spot where I could donate a small, very quiet compressor and some airbrushes.

I still have in excess of 80 kits to donate, all new and only opened to make sure all parts are of good quality, no warps, etc. Anyone with knowledge of a VA home that has a hobby area and has modeling as an activity, please let me know and maybe I could box up a few kits and send them off. I still have several that I'll keep for myself, so I'm not short changing my hobby work at all.

I'd like to thank Goldhammer for doing this with me, he's a really nice fellow and generous with his time. He's another vet as well, Air Force, had some nice stories about the aircraft he had experience with.

That's the news, anyone with ideas or stories about helping out the vet's to share, please give me a shout. Best Regards.

Appreciate the kudos, but was going right by them anyway, only a mile off the freeway.  Seeing what you provided to the pot it was the least I could do to add to it and more than happy to do it.

Anything I can do to help out more, just let me know, and that goes for anyone who can help Patrick in his quest.

Good jopb guys.  I just may have to do the same with some of my stuff in the future.  Did you get them building supplies too?

Yeah ikar, I tossed in acrylic paint, brushes, glue, sanding sticks, #1 knife and blades along with a car kit and a couple more aircraft.

They have enough to do a solid beginng build.  Also offered to help via phone if anyone had questions.

Ikar - Yup, Goldhammer bought and donated lots of building and finishing items, all listed in first post. Having visited disabled Vet friends over the years I know how crashingly boring it can be, very limited world for them.
