I use IKEA shelvs. If you run out of space, just buy another board and insert it, it is about $20 or so. Now, if I run out of space to add extra boards, I guess I'll just have to buy another shelf case.

I've got a couple of sturdy plastic containers with my lowest hanging models. the best go in the display cabinet, shuffling some to the shelf, forcing a couple of the worst kits into storage.

My last “Great Purge” was when I gently placed all my old 1/35 armor kits into paper shopping bags, stapled them shut, and put them in the garbage can.

I kind of regret not stripping them of useable parts, but at the time, I told myself to respect them and let them die in peace (one piece).

The next purge is upon me now, so the kits with yellow decals and most of the toy action figures will have to go.  Maybe that will encourage new builds.

Giving them to a school history teacher sounds like a great idea. You could also donate them to a museum. I donate mine to a WWII museum. They also have me clean and repair the ones that they already have. Another place to donate them is a VFW Post. CAP groups use them to teach young up and coming flyers how planes work.

Hope that this helps.

I was thinking about giving some of them to a high school history teacher. As extra credit the kids could do a short write-up or presentation on the aircraft and it's story. Then the kid can keep the model. As a former teacher, I would have welcomed something like this, not sure if others would. Not sure if the kids would be interested.

I am very much in that situation. I intend to give some to service recruiting offices. I have an old French sailing vessel I will try to sell or give to a french restaurant.  Looking for other ideas too.

When I build I am not really that prolific, probably 6-8 a year depending on the subjects, what I have been able to do is discard some of my older efforts which don't look so good anymore. You could box some up and rotate the display,or give them away to someone who will value them.Perhaps you have a desk or bookcase at work where you could put one or two out.

I haven't built in about a month, kind of los the *** after really pushing to get some things done for a show in September. Archery season is also in full swing, and that has further pulled away my attention from the plastic.

But the motivation is coming back, but I've realized I'm out of display space. What do you guys and gals do when you are out of space? I don't have room in my house to build more shelves, so the only option is to get rid of some of them. I hate to just throw them away.
