Model shops in Houston, TX
Posted by Tubosteve on Saturday, January 11, 2020 5:06 PM

Just come over to Houston after a few months away........only to find that the Hobby Town store on Highway 6 West is no longer open. A Google search shows it closed back around May lasy year!

Do any of you Houstonians know of other niche stores that sell plastic models. Just been looking at the nearest Hobby Lobby......but not much of a planearmour choice....and they do not sell the Tamiya paint line......or much of any paint for that matter! Do all the HL's stock the same stuff or are there differences between branches ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Steve

Wow.....G & G Models, what a cool shop! Thanks for the heads up Mopar.

A ton of models, many from companies I've never heard of (I come from over the pond) and a decent range of paints...Tamiya acrylics, Humbrol enamels etc. Cars, trucks, planes & armour.....so much I had a hard time choosing something Tongue Tied

Ended up just getting a small Red Arrows Gnat. I come to Houston a few times a year for a few weeks at a time for training so just wanted something that needs minimal paint as I have it all at home and don't want/need to buy it all again over here. Thought something quintessentially British that I can give to an American collegue when finished.

Absolutely! Those kinds of shops are getting pretty hard to find nowadays.

And to answer the part f your question about Hobby Lobby, yes they pretty much all carry the same inventory. The only difference between stores will be if a particular item is in or out of stock at any given time. If you go to their website, you can see their current complete inventory.
