All depends on your preference,I assemble almost everything except wheels and tracks then paint,I usually paint and weather them then add them.In the case of an M1 I would paint the skirts and add them later,also the machine guns.Any small hull bits and pieces and tools,like I said I assemble them and carefully hand paint them on the tank.But everyone is different,you need to find your process and be comfortable,no wrong or right way.

I'm not very good with Armor, but, If you ask this question in the "Armor" section of these Forums I'm sure the members there will be able to answer your question.

My question is: at what point of a tank build do you paint? Do you paint when the building of the model is complete? Or do you paint just the shell, then add the machine gun, the missile countermeasure, smoke discharger, etc?
