Stik,

Live wires?  Nah, they were just like us...  Oh.  Indifferent  Ha ha ha!  Stick out tongue

Anyway, here is what they brought across 2,500 miles of ocean to share with us.  Builder first, followed by their model(s).  Hopefully I got it right!

I think they had a great time as well. Jim FaceTimed our AMPS meeting, which was going on at the same time on Saturday. They sure sounded to be having plenty of fun during the call. You definitely got some of our live wires as visitors.

Stik,

Jim and the crew were terrific!  We all had a great time, and even though we only just met, I think we hit it off well.  Despite living thousands of miles apart, we are joined by a love of tanky things.  I think Konrad’s soldering demo was the final kick in the pants I needed to finally get serious about it.

I have to admit to being a fan of Jim’s works.  My favorite entry at my first IPMS Nationals at Phoenix in 2004 was Jim’s scratchbuilt MBT-70. I kept going back to marvel at it, and thought it had a Tamiya-like look.  And to finally meet him in person and to find out he’s a terrific guy made it all the better!

I sincerely hope the Hawaii mob also made a good impression, and that our friendship will continue and grow.

I’ll post pics of the So Cal gang’s kits tomorrow morning.

I have some time this evening, so off to the bench right after dinner!

G, we sent some of our haoles to you for fun and entertainment. I hope that they were not too difficult as guests. Conrad is insane with his soldering and 1/48 armor work. And Jim Wechsler, well, he’s just Jim Wechsler. Nice to see the mainland SO CAL AMPS and the Five Oh crew meeting up.

Southern California AMPS visits Hawaii!

The Honolulu AMPS chapter was honored to get a visit from members from Southern California this past weekend.  There was food, fun, and cameraderie.

The SoCal guys even brought some of their models to share with us, which was a real treat!

And as if that wasn't enough, Konrad Schreier did a soldering demo for us.

Gifts were exchanged in the form of chocolate macadamia nuts and girly calendars, and the latest issues of Abrams Squad and Bears in the Mud.

"In Soviet Russia, you no get muddy, mud get YOU!!!"

Aloha to Jim Wechsler and the SoCal AMPS gang for dropping by, and hope to see you in Vegas next year!

I'd be remiss if I didn't give a big shout out to Joe Wills of the Hobby Company for hosting our monthly meetings.  Thanks Joe, without you we'd be meeting under the bridge!
