Right you are there...  It's our gift to the Filipino Modeling Community.

Maybe now that IPMS Manila has begun it, the rest can follow suit.  It was the result of hard work, and more importantly, teamwork. If all modelers pitch in, this award will just be the beginning of the Philippines being in the news.

Do you remember the email address you originally registered with?  I can merge the two accounts together, you just need to let me know which account name you want to keep.  Send me an email about it.

Dwight, I usually don't pop into this thread, but wow!  Those are awesome!

Speaking of which ... this thread is about 21 months old and over 2,100 posts.  At some point we should discuss starting a new one.

Happy New Year guys!

Well with the little modeling time I got for the past weeks, I have finally been able to complete the three kits I started late last year. I must admit that I rushed completing these builds and I may have lost the opportunity to come out with a good job on them.  Anyway here they are:

1.) M4A3E2 “Jumbo” Sherman

Base Kit: Tamiya M4A3E2 Jumbo Sherman

Here are the following modifications done to this kit:
1.) Reshaped the turret and the transmission cover.
2.) Added weld lines.
3.) Added scratch-built periscope guards.
4.) Replaced the periscope with scratch-built clear parts.
5.) Added casting numbers.
6.) Added scratch-built machine gun cradle (at the turret rear)
7.) Replaced the 75mm gun with a spare 76mm gun.

2.) M4A1(76) Sherman

Base Kit: Italeri M-32 Recovery Vehicle + Italeri M4A1(76) Turret

Here are the following modifications done to this kit:
1.) Added M4A1(76) turret.
2.) Modified the headlights to have clear parts.
3.) Added machine gun cradle at the turret rear.
4.) Replaced some deck tools.

One major problem of this kit is the tracks which are too stiff and tight. The tracks on the right side actually broke into 3 parts and I have to sew them together. Right now I am in the process of doing a diorama base for this one to hide the visible joints of the tracks.

3.) KV-2

Base Kit: Trumpeter KV-2

This was done out of the box. I hand painted the markings as I do not like to apply a clear coat to my builds. And I cut out one of the lids of the stowage, thinned it and make it look crumpled.

This one is also going to be in a diorama that is why it is damaged and knocked out.

Well comments are always welcome.

ey, thanks for the formula cbrain.  I already got an exhaust fan.  I went with a downdraft booth though since the fan produces only about 124 cfm, plus i dont have a wall or window to stick the fan on ^_^  I'll be running a duct through my window though.  Man never knew wood cost so much lol.

I have a question for you people though with regards to spray booth blowers.  I've been looking around in hardware stores (southern Manila area) for them but all seem to be under powered when compared to the 100 to 200 cfm rating recommeneded (worse they have cubic meter per hour ratings).  Do any of you have suggestions or information on brands or places to buy satisfactory blowers / fans; or better yet have a setup you use which i can follow.  Thanks again.

migus: Hey great!  Another southerner who's into the hobby (I'm from the Alabang area).

Regarding your cfm to chm problem, it's just a matter of conversion.  CFM would be equivalent to cubic feet per minute. So you can calculate it with the following formula.

CFM x 0.03 x 60 = CMH

So a 100-200 cfm rated blower would have an equivalent to a 180-360 cmh rated blower.

I currently have a setup in my work area where I'm using a medium-sized ventilation fan (like those ones used in bathrooms) installed against the wall where I airbrush. Still, I use a respirator/gas mask whenever I paint just to be sure.

Thanks for the info zeke, ill definately try going to accurate models in the near future.  Thanks also Junior172 for the welcome. (bad non-intentional puns eh)

I just tried "explosion" testing the exhaust fan i bought the other week.  I didn't blow up on me despite spraying lacquer thinner into it.  Suffice to say i took precautions hiding behind a cooler and a side table laying on its side lol.

i think we use the same type of gas mask. i got the filter (Blue Eagle brand RC-203 for spray painting)  for P96 i think. Accurate Models carry mostly armor, ships, aircraft. they also have those Tamiya GT, F1 and Rally race car models and motorcycles, and RC. their Gundam models are limited though unlike STC. some guys here also build Gundam kits so dont feel out of place hehehe

its a gas mask with two replacable filters. i specifically got filters which had organic and paint rating.  i still smell the stuff when i paint though.  I guess i got a crappy one eh?  those cost a lot too, 100 a filter.

I've been meaning to go to southmall for the past month or so, but can't find the time.  What stuff do they usually carry?  Me and my friends usually hunt for HGUC gundam models at department stores trying to get rid of their stock.  I guess i'm sorta out of place here since it seems most of your guys build ac and armor.
