Where I live we are under a stay at home order and non essential companies are closed. I am in need of tamiya cement and paints etc. Amazon won't deliver for until June. can anyone point me in the right direction for tamiya cement paints and other things without paying an arm and leg for shipping or waiting 2 months.
Check with scalehobbiest, sprue Bros, etc. Fed x and ups still up and running. Should have in less than a week
Just got a kit from another member via ups in a week, coast to coast.

I just ordered some stuff from HobbyLink Japan and had no issues getting it shipped here. I got some paint from Sprue Brothers about two weeks ago- and it don't see anything on their website about being shut down. I'd give 'em a try and see what happens.

Squadron is open for business. Get a daily email touting their current sale. Yes, I know the rap against Squadron and what is in stock - but it is one of the few games in town. Can't do too much about shipping cost. It is what it is.
Hardware stores are an essential business and are still open (at least here in Texas). Sand paper in lieu of emory boards. Their superglues in lieu of something with a hobby brand. Plastic garage sale signs in lieu of Evergreen sheet styrene - My Lowes sells hot pink or lime green sign sheets, 30 thousands & they're styrene. Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) for liquid glue, by the quart it is less expensive by the ounce than Tamiya. Caution about MEK -- it is an inhalation hazard. Decant some into a baby food size jar or a spare empty Tamiya glue bottle -- keep it capped on the bench. Store the rest out in the garage. My Lowes sells Bondo auto body putty -- excellent for filling seams. I will use it often even when the hobby brands are availabe.

I can't bring pure MEK into the house, so that's out.
I do a fair amount of plunge molding. I use those clear plastic clamshell take out things.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

They gave their staff the choice to stay at home or keep working. Some decided to stay home and others to keep working. They just said there might be a delay in getting orders sent out. I placed an order with them a couple days ago and the only delay I noticed is it took three hours longer to get the shipping notice. So they seem to be doing just fine.
Thanks! Last couple of times I ordered from them I got my order in two-three days. Ain't going to kill me if I have a wait a week or so. I'd rather they keep their heads down and stay safe.
so far, I have had success inordering from Megahobby.com in NJ! If you are close enough, you might even get it faster than prime shipping!

I ordered some Tamiya paint and cement from Sprue Bros. last Monday, it arrived Wednesday. No problem. Apparently, modelers as a group are not panic buying and hoarding- Keep up the good work, guys!

Hobby Lobby was open ealier this week- don't know about today. They have Tamiya glue, Testors and Valleho paints, plus a few general craft acrylic paints.

I placed an order with Sprue Bros an hour or two ago, and I just got a 'shipped' confirmation. I can't say when it will get here, but I sure didn't expect the order to be gathered and shipped that fast.

Here in Minnesota, hobby shops must close, but but booze stores are allowed to remain open as essential services. Hey, I need my model fix just as bad as an alcoholic needs his!

Back to the hobby supply issue, I thought I'd mention that I got an email from my local Hobbytown stating that though the store is closed to retail, they are offering curbside pickup if you call in your order. **
I see that various Hobbytowns are doing that, not just ours. If you are lucky enough to have one nearby, might check it out. **
**EDIT I just checked the local website, and the store has since closed (meaning no further curbside pickup) due to a local stay at home order).

Thought I'd follow up regarding my Sprue Bros order.
Ordered Friday (27th) after 3PM (I ALWAYS do this with Sprue Bros and places who don't work on weekends. grrr). Shipping method, the cheapest ground (Had to be ground anyway cuz needed some tamiya extra thin).
Arrived this morning (31st) via UPS.
I am currently in northern IN, I think Sprue Bros is somewhere around Kansas City. This has been my typical experience with them, and under the circumstances, I say hat's off to them and UPS too.
Brookhurst Hobbies is doing online and phone orders for mail delivery or back door pick up. They are limited to stock on hand, but I did a phone order/pick up there last weekend during my hit & run visit to the L.A. area to take care of some essential business. Military Hobbies in Orange CA is also offering phone in/pick up service.

My wife and I were going to pick up dinner at a place when I remembered needed to get some paint. A Hobby Town was right next door, they were open and did door to car drop off. I called them, asked to get some Tamiya paint and cement, they had what I needed and in a few minutes we were on way. And supper ready also. All that in about a 2 mile drive. I guess I'm lucky here.
Hobbylinc.com is still going. Have the longer ship times disclaimer. I recieved my order today. Normal usual transit time. I will order more when my allowance re-ups. Apparently I'm essential (well my job is anyway) so I'll keep spending.
