Lever Action

I'm assuming that's supposed to be a 30-30 and I've never seen a model of one,  but where did you get it?

It is a Lego item..I just bored out the barrel with a micro drill and painted it.

With that barrel length and the bore you gave it, .44-40 or 45 Colt would be a better guess. Remember, lever action rifles were primarily developed to fire pistol cartridges so that the person only had to carry one cartridge and still have a little better reach and accuracy.

I remember my Grandfather's 30-30, it had a long octogon barrel and was stamped smokless powder only.  He used to use it after working the coal mines to hunt dear.

Octagonal barrel was an option really increased the strength.

 Well, interesting. I have Both a .44-.40 and a .45 version of that rifle. Both still work well. I usually don't hunt with them now, just range shooting. I now use an old Bow My Brother in Law gave me years ago. It was ( Is ) handmade and is an Indian Hunting Bow. that way I have to get closer, so it is a contest between the deer and me.

        I usually gravitate in firearms ( long guns) to single shot-Bolt-Action weapons. That's the way I was taught. I only have one auto Pistol ( A 1911 Colt .45) and a (.357 Magnum Revolver)Older weapons are surprisingly well made. My Henry is so old I don't even try to fire it anymore. I have one "Brown Bess" but, she also is to old to be firing now.

    Back to plastic. I wondered why LEGO doesn't do modern war items, after they do all the other iterations of man's inhumanity to man! Pirates, Knights and vassals and Space wars type kits.

I think a Brown Bess is. 58 caliber!
