I am sitting here at my desk looking at a model that I would wish it would finish itself up for me.Two years ago,I picked up this kit of the M-40 from AFV.Know that they had good detail.Along with this kit got the SKFZ184 Elepant. Both are for my wife since she plays world of tanks with me and is the commander of our clan.I built the elepant 1st and it was a good kit.Fit was great. It was by revell of germany. Now this M-40 tho is something else.It is not to bad of a kit but simple put.It is over enginenered.Had to scatch build a few part or add spacers along redesigning parts to make them work.Finially getting to see the light at the end of the tunnel but don't want to move to the light in case of another 2x4 waiting for me.lol...
Have you ever had those days that you just want to give that build the finger and a baseball bat.If so,well you know what to do.....
The ever present shelf of doom is awaiting a new arrival!!! lol
IDK, most often persistance will pay off but sometimes i just gotta say "ta hell wit it!" and add the entire kit to the parts bin.
Happy Easter, stay safe
To be honest, as much as I enjoy building (and finishing) kits, I don't think I can remember ever building a kit without feeling 'Will this ever be done?????' a few (or a lot) of times.
In my case, I do most of it to myself by a) being too much of a perfectionist b) often buying aftermarket stuff which can be fun, or can just be too much, and c) having a preference for expensive, complex kits.
I'm always telling myself that next time, let's grab a simple kit and just have fun putting it together. Then the demon visits and I somehow find myself online ordering that complex kit I've been dreaming about for years, with too many AM goodies.
Anyhew, nice to know I'm not the only one.

My shelves of doom is overflowing. More than a dozen kits up there. I have two models on bench currently that I think "one more day", but tomorrow never comes!

It's happened to me more than once building RC airplanes. For plastic scale models, not yet..... yet being the key word! LOL
Welcome to the club!
My shelf of doom has quite a few models on it. When I feel like I just want to throw it against the wall, I put it on the shelf. I usually work on 2 or 3 at a time. If one of them starts getting to me, on the shelf it goes and one comes off. Haven't actually destroyed one or broke it down for parts in a very long while. If I remember correctly, it was a plane that I was nearly finished with. I was checking out the paint job and noticed that the entire tail section was warped. Got tired of trying to fix it and took it to the range and had mixed feelings but blew it into micro pieces. Felt better afterwards.
