    I use a folding table. Now here's the twist. It was made to be a portable "Kitchen" table for R.V.Use. It even has a rack on one end for the Coleman Stove! The Rack holds my older larger Tackle ( tool ) Box, leaving me lots of workspace when it's clean. Which it just about never is.

    The reason I use this arrangement is simple! It Works! Now for painting, I take and set up my portable Spray Booth in the Garage and go for it. I have one half of my landlady's workbench that she uses for Stained Glass projects. This gives the Booth a good stable surface to sit on that is LEVEL! And my Flame Guard Shop Vac is on the bottom shelf ready to make any fumes or overspray go away!

 P.S. Just had to replace my Compressor and Disc/Belt Sander! Both machines are to replace the older ones that I gave to another modeler just starting out. Thank Heavens for Stimulus Checks. Got bills caught up and was able to help someone else more than once!

Yes they look like the vendor tables at the shows. What I like about it is that if I make a mess LT will clean it up. I use a piece of cardboard to contain accidents and cleanup junk.
Here I have my ab set up in the garage for the current builds, a Hasegawa 1/48 F8 and a Monogram A7. Also working on an old Tamiya Tiger I.

As a work bench in my man cave I have an architect desk from Ikea that works fantastic but for air brush painting in the garage I use a 2x4 folding plastic top table from Costco. Has been my system for years and works out great.

interesting, using one for an airbrush table was on my mind. I'm currently using very nice bench with a butcher block type top, extreme overkill and I could use that table as a real workbench.

I'm thinking these are the kind of tables that vendors at shows often use. Very nice size.

I use the same type table goldhammer mentioned but they do come in larger sizes which is what I use. Very inexpensive and works great.

Is this a thing? I could use a card table but it doesn't have much places to put things. Just wondering if someone out there uses something like this.

 

I just finished a folding bench for outdoor photography of my finished models.  I like to photograph them in sunlight against a photographic backdrop of an airport (I have photographed two local airports, including MSP, and photoshoped a third WW1 airport using a sod farm).  I used to carry outside a card table, a little stand to hold the backdrops, a little stepstool to sit on, the backdrops, and finally the model.  That was a lot of trips back and forth between the yard and the basement.

I built a little folding bench from 1 x 2 and 1/4 inch hardboard.  It weighs about ten pounds, and is three foot wide by about 3 1/2 foot high, and the bench is about 20 inches deep.  It unfolds more easily than the legs of the card table and is quite rigid when unfolded.  I also have a storage pocket for some odds and ends on the back.

I will be detailing this bench on the model photography forum in the week to come.

My son made a folding table, about twice as large as a TV tray table (those folding tables to eat in the living room). It's made out of wood and he made it in shop class a dozen years ago. That's my "to go" portable table to work off of. It is about the size of a small cutting mat.

If you do a Google search for tv tray table, there will be hits of tables similar to what I use.
