AK Interactive NATO Weathering Set

Well, you know what your doing about the colours then, didn't realise you were a fellow Brit. The Scorpion was being withdrawn about the same time my Battalion moved into the armoured Inf role in 94. Fortunatly i never got stuck in a CVR(t), i don't think i would have fit. I did drive a Warrior though.

If your interested, i have a British Army GB running, the Scorpion would make a nice addition.

I was a Scorpion driver, in Recce Trp., Scots DG, 1991 - 1992. As people have noted, we only had a two colour scheme, i.e. dark green and a lighter olive green.

Seriously fun vehicle drive to drive. At first difficult, getting used to the  6 (?) gears forward and reverse. Also, you sat next to the engine, seperated by a thermal shield wall, nevertheless, it was seriously hot after a while.

I don't use these weathering sets so can't offer any advice. But Stik is correct about the British not useing the 3 colour scheme. British army vehicles are green and black.

But i do believe that the Scorpion was used by both Spain and Belgium at least. The AFV club kit has markings for both, in overall olive green i think.

I look forward to seeing your kit, i already have the Scimiter and have the Scorpion on my shopping list. It was one of the first AFV's i ever saw in the flesh back in the 70's.

Just a side note, but the British Army never adopted the three color NATO camo. They have stuck with their same camo colors for decades that pre date the NATO scheme. I don’t know of any other NATO armies that used the Scorpion.

Not that one,but they are for different techniques you may want to apply to your vehicle.

A Filter fades or changes the tone of your basecoat

The Wash can either be used as a pin wash or overall wash can lend a dusty or dirty appearance

The rain marks are for a lighter technique,you know like a slightly dirty car in a light rain where you see the light run marks on vertical surfaces.

They are all separate and distinct techniques,read up on each one and see how and where to apply them.
