Need help finding space for a current modelling workspace.

Its a bit hard without images and sizes, but some years ago when my space was very limited, I took the doors of a built in wardrobe, (what you probably call a closet), and built some shelving into either side. I then built a fold down bench into the centre and this worked fine. I used part of the shelving on one side as a spray booth with an old record player turntable.. None of it was significant in terms of structural changes and when we sold the property, I simply reinstated the original.

six feet wide and 30" deep not six feet wide and 30" wide. my bench\desk is U shape, about 8' per side 30" deep with 1 side that is parallel to the other side raised for standing work. with this bench\desk i can be on the net & work on my model warships. going to build another alongside the lower bench to stack the stash to give the room some order. i have the entire 3rd floor(officially attic) to play with with almost 1/2 being my bedroom.

i put the links into chrome as i mostly use ie11 & saw the pictures. what is tha"T" thing on wall "E"?

Consider re-purposing closet in wall B as model storage & remove door or re-hang as a sliding door.
Move desk to the left under window if you consider that you want natural lighting for painting.
Fill in wall E & F with desking to suit. B, C & D for book cases/display space, I favor Billy Bookcases with/without doors, picked up dirt cheap (for dirty deeds ;-) ) from local pages.

My workroom is U shaped. Key is 2 of 3-drawer filing cabs for storage, with a solid table top on it, + an adjustable comfy bar-stool so I can work sitting/standing. (does my Back no end of good)
My pc desk to the left (2 standard pc's & pc workbench room).
Book cases along the short U base, containing model supplies, a printer, & TV/Radio, visible/audible from all benches.
Other Long U, is book cases, with books, (model stash on top) and a Third generic bench for all other 'honey-do,' admin & generic fixing, so that model & pc bench isn't disturbed.
Generic shelving over spare walls as well.

Really? you are giving up space because a guest might show up. It's your place that you are paying for, use the space for your benefit. If a bed can remain in there then the guests can sleep with your desk in there, just take a modelling break when you have guests. Our spare bedroom has my wifes sewing machine and indoor herb garden. I would never set a room aside to just sit and collect dust for guests.

I would say bummer about that but you sure will learn a lot doing a renovation, have fun and it should make for some quality time with your Dad helping you.
