Picture Size to Post

It depends upon what hosting service you are using. I use postimage.org and have no issues, and everybody else can see my pictures without a problem. 

If the pics are to big, the site reduces the size but they do take longer to load. I use Flickr and while i load them on there are 1280p i post on here at 800.

I use Imageshack and post all of my pics as thumbnails that link to the full-size pics.

Unfortunately you have to use a hosting site to post pics here.

Some of my pixs are pretty big, but I use postimage and have never had a problem.  You may fill up your quota on the hosting site faster with big photos but I have several score of them on postimage.  And, while the FSM forum software reduces size to fit the forum format, if a viewer clicks on the image FSM directs to the hosting site and you see a big version of the image, so bigger photos do appear more detailed.

Also, when selecting the image during the posting process, you do not need to fill in the size- there is a default value which works fine.

It doesn't matter becuase this site reduces the pic size. Depending on your photo host, viewer may be able to click on the pic to see it at the actual size of your upload.

There's a maximum size built in, the minimum size depends on the data.

If you make an "album for FSM" on a share site, be sure to partition that album from whatever else you have on that site.

It can be entertaining to scroll through peoples vacation and other random photos.

When posting pictures, a menu pops up asking for source, an image description and dimensions (with a box that you can click to constrain dimensions).  In general, I typically set width to either 300 or 400 pixels and leave the height box blank, and click the constrain dimensions box.  This way the images will display to whatever width I set (300 or 400 pixels) and will set height to whatever is needed to preserve the aspect ratio of the original picture.  In addition, if a viewer then clicks on he image it will take him or her to the original image (wherever it is stored) and display it at full size (see sample below)
