I know, I know!
But you don't post pictures! Because I have difficulties not Photo Related. Anyway. In the Thread about Details, Pawel replies to a question with a Nice Photo of the ship I am working on. From a different angle at that!
Now picture that ship with all the vertical structural elements as lines on white paper. You cannot see through the paper! Lots of detail get lost or covered up. This is what I am going to avoid if I can. I will go in the parts bin for plastics, railroads and brass to get what I need. This ship's details will not be hidden.
S'funny. I built a ship years ago called the Conti Belgica. It was a model of a Contimar Lines container ship. They had ladders of paper and rails and vents too, a very limited number though. Probably the most detailed ship I had done in card to this time.
It's still available and still builds up to a nice model. And you can order extra containers to load her out! The details are still there. Albeit not many, but they are still viable in the areas that call for them.
