Looking for good model shop in the UK
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 9:13 AM
Has anybody got any suggestions for good model shops in the UK, preferably in the Midlands and that carry a good selection of models and accessories for kits ( like tracks and barrels, photo etched parts ). Smile [:)]

Hi Wolfspider,
not sure about up in the Midlands but there are some good shops that have websites.
Hannats is really good for kits and accessories. The website address is www.hannats.co.uk
Modelzone (which is what Beatties was) normally has a good selection of kits - not sure whether they have a catalogue website kinda thing.
Comet Miniatures does a really good selection of sci-fi models, they also do military kits (as far as I know these don't get a mention on the website) - they are at www.comet-miniatures.com
Hope this helps

Hannants are great, but they do take about 14 days to post anything to you!

I have had excellent service from TMMR in Whitby. A bit far for you to get to but they are online at
http://www.themodelmakersresource.co.uk
There are also a couple of shops in Manchester with good stock levels
Hope this is useful

If you're looking online you might want to try www.tahs.com.

It's my local LHS, well local to work that is, and I've been using off and on since I was about 7. Which is quite a long time ago.

If you're ever in the Heathrow area its a couple of miles from the flying bus station, and well worth a look.

I'd definitely suggest Hannants. Their catalogue is thicker than most phone directories!!! And they have a pretty good online ordering service

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)
