Hip Replacements, Cool Name for a Band?
Posted by DiscoStu on Friday, November 20, 2020 1:22 PM

Welp......20+ years playing hockey and general tomfoolery has caught up with me.  At the ripe old age of 44 I am heading towards a hip replacement.

I was told by my doc that there is no such thing as an "Athletic" hip replacement and I'm gettng Grampa's Hip.

So my running and jumping days are coming to an end, but for the next few weeks I have a built-in excuse to hide from chores and spend time at the bench.  Surgery is scheduled for Nov 25, so nothing to do on Thanksgiving but rest and watch football.

Scared to death about the surgery, but more concerned about how the painkillers are going to impact my airbrushing.  Could have some psychadelic paint jobs coming up Propeller

All the best and praying for a swift recovery DS! I'm 47 and my knees are shot. But, I'm glad that you're getting this taken care of now. The older you get the harder it is to recover from such things.

Don't know about the name of a band, but it would be a great name for a tour. Tyler had one ... Aerosmith - The Hip Replacement Tour.

That might even be better than some of the bands that are on their 47th Farewell tour, eh?

Good luck with the surgery, hope you have a swift and full recovery.

The Boss had her right hip replaced five years ago and everything was back to normal if not better within a few months.

She had her right knee replaces a couple of months ago and the recovery has progressed nicely if slowly and the pain remains.

The gerneral opinion is that knees are harder than hips. Do your diligence before picking a doc.

Wish you the best; you should be fine soon!

My brother had this procedure last year at 52 years of age.  Within a day  he was walking with the aid of a crutch and a few days after that you would never guess he had surgery.  I think he was out the same day as the procedure.  You're going to be fine.  Of course always easy to say when it's not me.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks all for the words of encouragement.  This should be good for a few laughs.
