Builds for 2020- sorta
Posted by Gamera on Sunday, January 3, 2021 6:33 PM

Well, I finished more in 2020 than I have in a few years here. Not sure it's too late to post this though. I pushed a few more over the finish line in the last couple days.

1). Amusing 1/35th Ho-Ri Type 5 tank destroyer.

2). Amusing 1/35th ARL 44 French heavy tank.

3). Bronco 1/35th Comet medium tank:

4). Garage kit 90mm Battle Angel, got the eyeball decals but still haven't put them on yet:

5). Hasegawa 1/35th A6m3 Zero, barely squeezed her under the line. Really like how the chipping came out but not that happy about the rest turned out:

6). Tamiya 1/35th F-51D Mustang, again barely squeezed under the wire:

7: Amusing 1/35th Conqueror Mk II heavy tank. The tank was finished by the end of the year but I finished up the figures and base today:

Great collection!

Love that Japanese tank destroyer...which I confess I've never heard of. At first glance, I thought it was a Panzerhaubitze 2000!

Thanks guys!

Greg: Since it was only a 'paper panzer' it's not surprising few people have heard of it.

Edit: Whoops - it's Type 5 Ho-Ri- not Ho-Ni just corrected it...

Gamera

Sorry, it's too late. Everybody please disregard Gamera's post.

Just kidding. Stick out tongue

That's a nice year's work, Cliff. Yes

I must have forgotten you are an armor builder, the Amusing Hobby kits look great, so I presume they must be good kits despite the funny name?

Garage kit Battle Angel is new to me. Did some Googling, got more confused. Is Garage kit a brand? What is a Battle Angel? I'm still trying to figure my way around some of the Gundham figures, etc. Just curious.

Thanks guys!

Greg: Garage kit is a description not a company. Back in the '80s people started making figures of mostly science fiction and horror characters and then making molds off of them for resin figures. Most of them were pretty limited run and distribution. Generally they were illegal kits made without a license from the creator. Since most of them were cast in someones garage or basement they got stuck with the name 'garage kit'. So a 'garage kit' is a non-licensed short-run kit.

Battle Angel refers to the figure being a copy of the main character in my favorite 2019 movie 'Alita: Battle Angel'- which is based on a Japanese comic series translated to English as 'Battle Angel: Alita'. The kit is non-licensed and 'Alita' is copyrighted so they just used the term Battle Angel.

I've gotten to really like Amusing- yeah weird name but solid kits. They're not as detailed as Takom or Meng, sorta more like a Tamiya in that the fit is really good. They're a joy to build.

Real G: Here's hoping in 2021 you get all that cool stuff built you started last year! Stick out tongue

Productive year!  I really like your inclusion of figures in your scenes.  It adds so much scale reference and action.

Thanks,

John

Looks like you had a very productive year! Those are some interesting decals on the mustang. They sure do remind me of the Pepsi logo.

Nice output, Gamera!  You beat me (I didn't finish a single build all year).

Thanks guys!!!

Keyserj John: It's South Korean (ROK- Republic of Korea) insignia. I built it for John 3:16's Korean War GB. It was flown by Major Dean Hess, oddly enough an ordained minister who still flew a P-51 and shot down a number of German pilots in the Second World War. He signed on again in the Korean War and flew what was now a F-51 gaining a couple of kills as well as serving as an instructor for South Korean pilots- hence the ROK insignia.

Keavdog John: I took a lot of my stuff to a WWII day our IPMS club used to do at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. Most of the people aren't knowledgable about the equipment so I really like to stick a couple figures in there to show how big or small the AFV is. I'm hoping this whole Corona-chan mess blows over and we can get back to the show next year or so.

great looking builds!  I really like your tanks!  Nice scenes there!
