Gator's Grip-Or-Gator Grip ?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Thursday, April 8, 2021 11:06 AM

The reason for the title is I am not sure of the name:

Now that said ,it has been mentioned more times than i care to count. Now here is the rub.Okay either name-Where do you get it? I have tried H.L., Micheals, Joanns, Lowe's Home Depot and the list goes on. They've heard or it but they don't carry it in deferrence to Gorilla Glue!

Based on what I have been told, and read, this is an adhesive I need in my shop. So, can anyone even suggest where I might obtain some?

I managed to get a bottle of it shortly before Gator's Grip shut down.  I had heard great things about it too, but I can't honestly say it was any better than any of the other, similar adhesives I have.  Definitely wasn't happy with it as an adhesive for PE where absolute transparency was required.  Just like all of the PVA glues out there, it didn't actually dry clear...not what I would call clear anyway.

Really depressing. I use the stuff all the time. I'm lucky I bought three bottles last time and I've still got one and half left.

I hate superglue, I guess I'll try Ultra Glue when I run out unless someone has a better suggestion.

Any insight on the shelf life of Gator Glue?   Like if I buy a bottle or two will it harden in the bottle  within a year?

Now, that I couldn't say.

Based on what I see of the Bottle and the Top Mechanism it will probably last as long as my Aleens which one bottle is three years old. But, I don't keep it in a window or bright place either. Cool and dark is the preferred spots for this glue-Like a drawer.

I bought 3 bottles of the stuff years ago (7?10?) and they are all still viable. Mike

I am fairly certain my Mom used the same bottle of Aleene's Tacky Glue throughout the 90s.

I will have to give this Gator Grip a try, glad the maker has resurrected it.  From what I read after he pulled up stakes the last year, I felt like I missed out big time on it.

Always found Gator & Gorilla to both be over hyped, under deliver and equally worthless in my modeling.

Common PVA aka wood gluewhite glue, carpenter's glue, school glue, Elmer's glue all more useful.
