Well, this is a first.

Had a porch pirate make off with my Revell 1/542 Franklin D Roosevelt today.
He must've moved fast cuz I was in the house and walked out as soon as I got the delivery text.
I have a notice into the seller; he's got a 100% rating so I'm not worried about a bad refund experience but it bums me out cuz these are pretty damn rare kits. :-(

Update: YAY! Stepped out for work at 3:30 this morning and  package is sitting on the porch!
The Lord smacked the thief upside the head or a mistake by UPS, either way works.

Probably gonna be disappointed, odds are they aren't modelers, that does suck though, mailman and delivery men don't always do us favors with their package placement. I have a big porch packages could be placed better where they are not so obvious or not exposed to the weather.

Yeah, I'm thinking I should put together a giant footlocker with a lock on it.

A " No Trespassing" sign.....captioned with " If you can read this , you ARE in range!" Then some skillfully placed bullet holes,( your choice of caliber), from the back.  I despise thiefs.

we're modelers it's what we do

Check craigslist ads in your area for the next few weeks.

I find it highly unlikely that anybody innocent in your immediate area will "suddenly" decide that NOW is the time to sell their  rare Revell kit.

Not that you can prove it's your kit, but at least you will be able to put a face to the crime.

I could tell you a few things that would "aggrivate" the individual.... but people know me as " a nice guy", so I cant disappoint them by telling you what you " could do"  with a suspect's phone# or address...

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

The footlocker is a good idea.  No need for a lock.  Inform UPS, USPS, or whoever delivers you kits that it's safe to put the parcel in the locker and you have problems with theft.  Find an authentic looking sign and write "INFECTIOUS DISEASE UNIT.  MOBILE SAMPLE BIN.  place sign on locker.  No one will go near it.

It is a very rare occasion when the delivery person wil put forth the effort to ring the doorbell.  This would be very helpful, as we are retired and almost always, someone is at home.  I can't believe how lazy or uncaring most of those people are.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

There is also a possibility that your kit got delivered to a wrong address instead. I got an iPhone XR dropped at my place that way; had to chase down FedEx and the intended recipient later on that day...

Some think this is actually fun!

Although it hasn't happened with UPS, it hasn't been uncommon at all for our USPS driver that delivers to my office to scan things as being delivered, sometimes days before he actually delivers them.

Glad your kit showed up!
