G'day to all of our American mates I need your help with a question. Is this the same Pledge product that you use on your models? If so its going to make some very happy modelers in Oz.
Cheers Ferg
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
I kind of doubt it. The current product that supposedly replaces Future is sold as a "floor gloss" not a cleaner.
DodgyIs this the same Pledge product that you use on your models?
Hi, Dodgy- this is what I use (UK, not USA) - labelled as "multi-surface polish", works a treat.
Maybe you've seen a Pledge product with this tag on it?
Hope this helps,
Hutch.
Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

Thanks MJY65. Sadly I think you're right.
Thanks Hutch6390. Your info has been a great help. I'll be able to contact my sister in law in the UK and ask her to send me some.
midnightprowler Is the liquid clear and the bottle amber?
Thanks midnightprowler. The bottle is clear and the liquid amber. As a result of the other replys, I have decided that what I have is definately not the right product. I really appreciate all of the help.
Hey Dodgy,
From all the dicussions I have read, the product is not the same as it use to be. I purchased a couple of bottles of the Pledge "Revive It" from a local on line store (Australia) that had been imported from the US, tried it and now I have plenty of wood floor polish. I will stick with Tamiya X22 clear gloss, superior in every way.
Ho My!
That is definitely NOT what I used to use! What I used was Pledge Floor gloss. White Bottle-Clear contents.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Here's a FSM link to an article about it that includes it's name and a picture of the bottle.

Thank you everybody for your replies and advice. It's much appreciated.

That is a CLEANER and not a wax as baron and others pointed out. If it's that difficult to get then you should try Gauzy Shine Enhancer from AK. This product is simply marvelous and leaves Aquagloss and Future behind.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Gauzy Shine Enhancer gets my vote too.
"You can have my illegal fireworks when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers...which are...over there somewhere."
Thanks for the advice, but is Gauzy Shine Enhancer as good on canopies as the old Pledge/Future product?
it is far superior , the only draw back is you can't mask over it .
Dodgy Thanks for the advice, but is Gauzy Shine Enhancer as good on canopies as the old Pledge/Future product?
Gauzy Shine Enhancer is more for clearcoating over natural metal finishes because it doesn't alter the color of the NMF it goes over as Future tends to do. I used it a couple of times after seeing the results that PJ was getting with it, and its definitely better than Future for that. AK makes another Gauzy product called Glass Coat that is more for dipping canopies. Trying that for the first time this morning on a 1/72 F-16 canopy, so I'm still in the early stages of testing it. What I see so far is that Glass Coat is much thinner than Future, so it has a tendancy to foam a little bit, which makes it necessary to gently blow on the part to clear the last few bubbles of foam. I guess the other drawback that I see so far is that its a fairly small, wide-mouth jar, so dipping anything bigger than a 1/72 canopy is going to be a problem. The big test will be to see how it reacts with the liquid masker that I use. Future had a problem with reactivating and becoming splotchy, which showed up when the dried liquid masker was peeled off. After that experience on a 1/32 F-16, I switched to just polishing the canopy with a Novus kit. It'll be great if this Gauzy Glass Coat works out, because it would be a lot less work than polishing with Novus.
Honestly, about all I've found my formulation of Future to be good for is attaching photo etch and small clear parts where you need absolute invisibility of your adhesive. Its excellent for that purpose. Other than that, it reacts badly with liquid maskers (Bob Dively's Liquid Mask), alters the color of NMF paints, and tends to develop tiny cracks in it.
No. in Australia it is "pledge one-go". although i bought it a few years ago, one bottle will last me a decade.

As Eagle said, Gauzy makes another version for dipping clear parts. I really like how the Shine Enhancer sprays smooth as glass. I can't get Future to spray like that so I hand brush it but kills the metallic reflection quite a bit unlike Gauzy. I first used Gauzy over my polished aluminum Alclad painted F84 which I needed to clear coat to protect the finish against masking over the fragile Alclad hi shine paint. I was very impressed with the product.

Pledge One Go has been long discontinued. I haven't seen it for many years now. The one bottle I bought must have been about 10 years ago.
There's also "Long Life" floor finish, but I find this unfriendly to acrylic paints.
Mop N Glo works just as well as the Pledge product. Many taxidermists use it on the eyes of their mounts to give them a more lifelike look. Works great on plastic too!
