San Francisco Cable Car
Posted by Luvspinball on Thursday, June 24, 2021 9:46 PM

About to build one of the Occre Cable Cars from San Francisco for my daughter who lives there.  Where is the most appropriate place to create a build log?  No trains or other public transportation Forums.  I just want to post it where I can get the best feedback.

Bob, that would be something I'd follow avidly.

That is a California Street car, the only double enders.

I lived and worked in the City for probably 35 years. At one point I lived about three blocks from the western end of the California line, but the $5 fare was a bit too much for me.

When you go visit, take the tour of the railway barn and shops.

My immediate reaction is "Dioramas".

I don't know why, but those folks like history and atmosphere.

I'm with Bill.  If you do a street section with track and cable slot, Dio page would be perfect.  Went to SF several times as a kid, and remember them well.

I'd say the Auto section.  There are often posts on commercial vehicles like trucks, buses and even trollies.

Don's probably right in that you should use the auto section but I also think it makes little difference. I'll wager that most of us enter the forums by clicking on "view recent discussions" so no matter where you post it people will see it. I'm very much looking forward to following your project. MiniArt has a couple of street car/tramcar kits that are terrific.

I think I will go with the Dioramas section, since I do plan on mounting it on a section of inclined street and track.  I was also thinking about adding a few people to give it some life.  And if you know anything about how I build, it will be lit (interior lights, headlight, marker lights, and maybe even a streetlight or two).  I can't resist.  It begs to have a little bit of lighting.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Good idea for lights. The lights are powered by a low voltage battery, are notoriously dim.

Gotta go with Tony Bennett.
