I this too difficult for me?
Posted by Nickg on Monday, July 12, 2021 10:44 AM

This is my first attempt at model building. I'm retired and the Model T is a model I just happend to have on hand. I got it as a gift years ago and put it away. I happen to love car models so that's a plus. My concern is, is this to difficult to start off with? I'ts listed as skill level 3.

That is a cool kit, I'm an armor/ aircraft guy, but I enjoy a car now and again.

I think if you have some build time in the past you should be ok. Take your time, dry fit before glueing, and above all if you run into difficulties STOP. Put the kit down and think the assembly through, ask for help...lots of great info here on the forums.

A corny line from a movie I never seen " you can do it". Good luck, have fun, exercise the gray matter, and post pix along the way.

we're modelers it's what we do

Since the consequences of failure are rather minimal (a piece of plastic in the trash), I'd say "Go for it!".

It's really an old kit, in that it was first released back in the mid- to late Fifties, and it's been rereleased and reboxed ever since.  So it might not look as crisp as a car kit developed in 2021, say.  I don't say that to discourage you, but just to give you a sense of the origins of the kit, as something to bear in mind as you build it.

Otherwise, I second the advice that armornut gave you.  It's an opportunity to practice your skills; in fact, every build is an opportunity to practice.  It's like anything else-athletics, your job, etc.  You improve with practice.

Great way to look at things. That takes a lot of pressure off. Thanks.

Good to know. Thanks.

At least this way you can paint it any way you’d like, as long as it’s black!

Go for it!  And have fun - the proper tools and glues make the task more enjoyable.

Thanks,

John
